It is said that the learned judge received an instant message on her mobile phone instructing her to back off the case of Kakwenza Rukirabashaija if ‘she did not wish to face reprisals’.

“Do not cross the line. You should stay in your lane,” one of the messages from an anonymous source believed to an SFC goon reads. “We ask your honourable court not to contest the detention of this suspect,” reads another bit of the message.

Earlier in the day the judge issued an injunction directing the police to immediately release the celebrated writer Kakwenza Rukirabashaija who has been under custody since December 28 when security operatives broke into his residence in Ntinda.

Magistrate Nambatya is currently in grave silence following the instant anonymous messages she received upon issuing Kakwenza release injunction. Our effors to retrieve a comment from her turned futile as her known phone contacts went unanswered perhaps because of the earlier experience she got from anonymous calls earlier today.
