Speaking to the press, Minister Harriet Ntabaazi confirmed the development but said cabinet will discuss and resolve on the matter. “Yes it is true we are discussing. We have to regulate the imported Boda Bodas because they are becoming a menace to the public,” she said. “We are considering regulating their importation via all land border points,” she added.

Minister Minsa Kabanda adds that they are already taking efforts to phase out the Boda Bodas in the city.

“Insecurity is high because of Boda Bodas. We want to regulate their operations. We will not allow them to operate freely like case has been,” she said.

Mawejje Frank the Boda Boda chairperson in Kampala reacts saying that government should involve Boda Boda motorists before taking that direction.
“We don’t want to clash with KCCA like we saw on vendors. We want the leaders to engage us and we discuss it in depth,” he says.

Meanwhile in a related case, government is seeking to regulate the operation of taxis in the central business district area of Kampala.
