Trouble is beginning to witch hunt the US sanctioned Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence boss Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho. Emerging yet to be verified reports indicate that Kandiho who now features on the US most wanted criminals list has reportedly fled Kenya by land border. It is said the top brass military chief had gone to secretly access medical attention in Nairobi. He had successfully disguised his status as he travelled by land border in ordinary attire that minimized suspicions of his actual status in the Ugandan government.

A source familiar with the development says Kandiho’s motorcade was last evening spotted crossing back to Uganda via the Busia-Malaba border point with Kenya.

“At about 6pm, we saw a convoy of 2 vehicles rushing back to the Ugandan side. The sirens were on and loud something that raised our attention. We were told that it’s Kandiho’s motorcade,” Wandera Joseph, a resident of Busia told this newspaper. “The speed of the convoy reduced when he was on the Ugandan side. It’s as if he was running away from something,” he adds.

Being a strategic ally of the US, Kenya cannot defy to arrest a person like Kandiho who is on Washington’s watch list.

Maj. Gen. Kandiho was included in the US sanctions list under the Magnitsky act of 2017 that targets ruthless political and military leaders around the world. Kandiho has since suffered the wrath of sanctions as he cannot afford to easily travel outside Uganda like case used to be. Kandiho is accused of presiding over a terror campaign against the opposition during the January 2021 general elections. He superintendent the mass abductions and killings of the opposition NUP supporters.
