Addressing a gathering at the Tarehe Sita celebrations held in Mbale district on Sunday, Oboth rallied NRM supporters to use all their strength and consolidate power.
“Should this power be away from our (NRM) hands, you will feel the pain of being a refugee in Kenya,” Oboth said. “You will feel the pain of living in IDP (camps). Let us do what it takes us to do to keep NRM in power, and in so doing, we shall make the work of the UPDF easier under articles 208 and 209,” he emphasized.
Oboth further commended the UPDF for restoring order at the peak of 2020 protests when the NRM government faced stiff contestation from the public.
“Defending the territory of the country is one of the things the UPDF has done. I appreciate the civil-military relations like what we are doing right here. It’s only in Uganda here where you fing army generals with no guns. That’s the peace the NRM brought and that’s why we are talking about,” he added.
It should be recalled that Jacob Oboth Oboth who represents West Budama county ran for the position of Deputy Speaker in the eleventh parliament only to withdraw at the eleventh hour after being promised a ministerial position.
