The opposition Forum for Democratic Change party mouthpiece also Kiira municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has faulted the National Unity Platform party for making appointments that were parallel to their expectations as FDC.
Speaking at a TV show this morning, Nganda claimed NUP premised its parliamentary committee appointments on grounds that those who were at loggerheads with the FDC were the best to be rewarded slots.
“One of the mistakes NUP made was to look for people who were hostile to FDC. It was a mistake for NUP to appoint Mapenduzi. It’s up to them and I wish them well,” he said.
Nganda further heaped praises on his former colleague Among who crossed to NRM saying she has at least addressed some of the challenges parliament has faced in the past 10 years.
“Hon. Anita Among is a very good Deputy Speaker of parliament. There are things we were denied in the last 10 years I have been in parliament, and she has addressed them,” he said. He added, “On the Zaake issue, I trust that Hon. Mpuuga will handle it well, and I hope his party gives him the support he needs.”
Ssemujju however says Zaake much as he celebrates his charisma, is unfit for the position of Commissioner.
“In the future, we need to be very careful with the people we send to the Parliamentary Commission. I like Zaake as an individual but I don’t think he is most suitable to be a Commissioner,”Nganda retorted. “I think the censure of Hon. Zaake has happened, but we need to find a way for parliament to continue working. I think as he pursues the legal path, we must paralyze the parliament Commission. Hon. Mpuuga and NUP will sit and make a replacement decision,” he added.
