Renowned youthful firebrand Kenyan legislator for Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is yet again caught up in another controversy after clashing with the speaker of parliament. Owino caused a storm and became a centre of focus after refusing to adhere to the speaker’s instructions warranting him to leave the August house with immediate effect over unacceptable behaviour.

Owino allegedly made remarks that what the speaker Justin Muturi amounted to disorderly behaviour in the house prompting her to react angrily.

At the time of the storm, Wajor woman MP Fatuma Gedi was tabling proof suggesting that the incumbent Deputy President William Semei Ruto was involved in land malpractice in the country following a dubious deal that caused loss of a public school land.

Gedi despite entering parliament with a brief case containing all the evidence did not attract the speaker’s satisfaction as she insisted that she did not table all the evidence at once as required. Gedi had wanted to produce proof on each land per speaking session but the speaker rejected saying it would consume time.

It was during this verbal clash that Babu rose to the occasion and supported Gedi leading to a melee that paralysed parliament. Babu made remarks that angered the speaker prompting her to order the sergeant at arms to evict him. Owin rejected prompting an adjournment of the house to May, 10, 2022.
