Four time Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate Rtd.Col Kizza Besigye has this morning clashed with police following his declaration of a mass nationwide protest in light of the skyrocketing inflation.

The former Museveni physician declared that he will lead an awakening campaign that shall be banked on to sensitize Ugandans and awaken them from what he called a ‘slumber’.

Soon as he declared his protest, Besigye was arrested immediately by police waiting outside his Kasangati residence in Wakiso district.

He was donned in his usual blue checked hooded jacket and a cap, an attire he puts on whenever he’s destined for the battlefield. He attempted to snake out his home on foot, in a scene replicating his actions a decade back. Unlike in the past, today’s declaration of the walk to work protest was short lived as police temporarily arrested him and dragged him back home. He was whisked back to his Kasangati residence where he remains under detention.

Policemen at the scene declined to speak to the media when asked for justifications of their actions.

Besigye says today is the maiden day of his much awaited revolution that seeks to block the succession plan from Museveni to his son Muhoozi. He says Uganda must have a transition other than a succession.

“These policemen carrying porridge in their heads do not know that we are fighting for them,” he said moments after being dragged back home. “We are resuming our civil resistance campaigns.  All Ugandans must get involved,” he appealed.
