Security authorities are still holding in custody, top parliament officials who allegedly breached the oath of secrecy and confidentiality by spilling information regarding the UGX 3b procurement of the vehicles of the office of the speaker and Deputy speaker.
Yesterday noon, security raided the offices of the implicated officials and took them to ungazetted detention facilities, which this site has been informed by a security source to be safe houses.
The netted officials are being held in custody with almost no chances of being arraigned before court, as the speaker Anita Among is still contemplating on what charges to prefer against them.
“They breached the oath of secrecy and confidentiality,” Obore said in a statement justifying the raid. “We are aware of a deliberate campaign to taint the image of the speaker. We are starting to crack down on such elements in that plot to demonize the speaker,” he explained.
By press time, the identities of the accused parliament officials had not been disclosed to the public. We are yet to understand what charges will be slapped on the detained officials.
