In a ruling issued on October 14, 2021, court upheld the victory of Ssenyonyi as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Nakawa West and imposed payment for damages on the petitioner Mukesh, amounting to UGX 73m.

However, Hon. Ssenyonyi raised complaints 8 months later that his attempts to reclaim the payments are futile as the petitioner totally cut off his known communication.

“Whereas Mukeshi Shukla Babubhai was adjudicated by the order of this court and ordered by a Decree in Election Petition No. 009 of 2021 & MA 340 & MA 561 of 2021 to pay the Decree holder costs of the petition and the applications as sum of UGX 73,050,000/=, being the costs of the petition in execution,” reads part of the order. “This is to direct you to arrest and bring the judgement debtor before this court with all convenience and speed unless the said sum is paid,” reads another part of a high court letter dated July 13.

Mukesh Shukla was unable to pick or return calls to this reporter by press time.
